Superando las infecciones entéricas: agua limpia, alimento limpio, ambiente limpio

Cada 29 de Mayo, la Organización Mundial de  Gastroenterología (WGO por sus siglas en idioma inglés), convoca a las 110 sociedades científicas que la integran a celebrar el Día Mundial de la Salud Digestiva.  Esa fecha conmemora el aniversario de la fundación de la organización. Alrededor de la efeméride se celebra una campaña  enfocada sobre un tema, que motiva la participación, acción y educación de la sociedad de modo tal que se incremente el conocimiento del público sobre la prevención de las enfermedades  digestivas. Para este año 2011 se ha escogido el tema «Superando las infecciones entéricas: agua limpia, alimento limpio, ambiente limpio.»
En Cuba se llevan a cabo diferentes iniciativas alrededor de la fecha. Sin dudas, la presencia entre nosotros del recién electo Presidente de la WGO, constituyó el principal estímulo.
